Into the Darkness

Lanna Royal Cemetary

Ironically, I took this on an incredibly bright day; I could barely keep my own eyes open. This sort of sun seems to be the local specialty here in Chiangmai. These days, the weather seems to flip back and forth between these overly bright days and overcast rainy days.

Anyway, I had an idea that taking super dark shots on a super bright day would be fun. Actually, I took both overly bright and overly dark. This is in a monastary/temple in Chiangmai. This temple is the location of a Lanna Royal Cemetary. The Lanna kingdom was the kingdom in the north part of Thailand, once upon a time. Evidently, somebody still keeps up with the royal line, and they are still honored…at least, after they are dead.

Wow! This picture is pretty awesome! I would never have guessed that it was a really bright day, as it looks rather stormy! Really interesting! I’ve tried shooting dark shots on bright days once or twice and got the same effect, but I never got a good subject in the photo! I guess that just goes to show how much composition means for a photo!

Well, composition or just the result of always carrying your camera with you. I have been carrying my camera everyday these past few months, and shot about twenty of these shots off right before having some lunch.

The cemetary has always caught my attention, but on this super bright day, I could not help but play around with the white, overly reflective, blinding monuments. I took some way over exposed shots too.
