Everybody was asleep, and I was getting ready for bed, and something about the moonlight in the room made Mary really look cool. Now, of course, this is not moonlight. I was staying in my Dad’s house and he had just handed me a flashlight in case I needed it in the night. When I first tried to use it, it took me a little adjusting to realize that when I thought I was turning it off I was turning on the laser pointer.
Mary…lasers…it might not be a theological, historical, or philosophical fit, but it sure makes for a cool photo. Now, focusing at such a wide f/stop made my depth-of-field pretty narrow, so getting that right and actually holding it the right distance away was no small feat. That is what we invented tripods for, but I just did not have one on me at the time.
Then, I had to do all that while holding the laser pointer on Jesus’s right knee, which is where I liked the reflection the best. In the end, it was fun, and I got a groovy night vision-looking Mother Mary.
