A School and an Outcast

fish on ice with tongs

I was just having a little fun in the grocery store the other day. The fish were particularly appealing. Meat is not so exciting and I do not really want to take photos of clothes racks or packaged foods. These fish are the only natural, unbutchered phenomenon in the store! Plus, I am from Texas/Oklahoma, neither of which are very well known for fish, unless that be lake fish…which these are not (I believe).

And just in case some of you were wondering about where I took this photo since it does not have that China ring to it, I will be in Thailand for a few weeks for the birth of my first child. So, I will not be bringing the usual small town China scene to you.

Hey, this is really cool! I really like the in focus – out of focus of the fish. Was this f/1.8 on your 50mm?

That was with the 50mm at f/1.4. My 50mm is usually my walk around lens. The 85mm is not really all that bulky, but in most circumstances, I carry the 50mm because it is more of a wide angle “photojournalism” type of lens…at least, more so than the 85mm.
