petrified log on the edge of a lake


I took this shot on the same day (actually, I think only moments away) as the boy in the previous entry about taking natural photographs of children who tend to use their fake smile for the camera.

I was just starting to notice the whole shore line was a petrified forest. I had seen petrified wood, but not a whole forest worth. This is not the most obvious shot of the wood (it is just some of the grains as if the tree were broken open), but it is the best looking photograph. So, it makes it on the photoblog.
