The Worldwide Photowalk in Temple TX Is Almost Here.

We are almost there: 24 July is the day of Scott Kelby’s third annual Worldwide Photowalk, and little Temple, Texas is joining thousands of cities worldwide in this massive, yet personal, event. If you are in the Temple area and are open, you simply must give it some thought; the more the merrier.

I have missed the first two Worldwide Photowalks because I was bouncing around the wrong place in the wrong country to be able to meet up with one of the several photowalks around my parts of China and Thailand. Now, I am stationary here in Temple as the walk comes around a third time and I am elated to be able to join in the fun.

I am still trying to decide whether to bring my assistant along or not. He is only three, but he would love something like this. Walking around, playing with daddy’s camera, goofing off…that is just his style. He has commitments too, though: he has to choose between this or a friend’s birthday party. We shall see.

The group is small, at least so far, but for a little town in Central Texas that has never really seen anything quite like it, I would not expect too much more. It will be a great chance to meet up with other photography-interested folks, shoot, talk, laugh, and learn. I know there have been many times when I so yearned to just tag along with those photographers whom I respect so highly. Now, I do not know that there are necessarily any high caliber shooters coming to our walk, but watching others can provide inspiration and challenge us to work on some of our weaknesses, regardless of our shooting level. Watching my three-year-old son, his shooting style, and evaluating his photos continually challenges me.

Hope to see you there. Keep up (or go ahead and sign up) with the Temple-Belton-Killeen area photowalk, by all means.
